Arrival:
Helsinki Baltic Herring Market takes place in a central location at Helsinki’s Market Square (Kauppatori). It’s easy to arrive without a car—please use public transport, or come on foot or by bike whenever possible. There are several city bike stations near the Market Square. Check timetables and any service changes in the HSL Journey Planner.
Accessibility:
The area is not fully accessible. The walkways within the event area are wide, but in some places uneven or sloping. At the Market Square, access close to the fishing boats is difficult by wheelchair due to stairs. Access to the sailing ships is not barrier-free. There are also construction sites in the area that may affect accessibility.
The nearest accessible parking space and drop-off point can be found on the Pohjois-Esplanadi side at the intersection with Helenankatu.
The busiest times at the market are on the opening Sunday, October 5, and on Saturday, October 11.
The needs of different language groups are taken into account in the event’s communications as comprehensively as possible. Event information is available on the website in Finnish, Swedish, and English.
